Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory has been angling for a return to the league for a while following his year-long suspension. He might not have to wait much longer, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports Gregory will submit his application for reinstatement to the NFL on Thursday.
#Cowboys suspended DE Randy Gregory, who recently spent more than 6 weeks in intensive drug and alcohol rehab in addition to counseling, will submit his application for reinstatement to the @NFL tomorrow, sources say. 60 days from now is mid-July — right before training camp.

Gregory has been in the NFL’s drug program since failing his drug test at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine. He’s been suspended multiple times for failing tests since then, and given that his last suspension was for one year it seems unlikely he’ll have any strikes left if the league does reinstate him.
The Cowboys took a big gamble selecting the former Nebraska star with the No. 60 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s appeared in just 14 games, tallying 20 tackles and just one sack.
