Red Sox pitcher David Price diagnosed with carpal tunnel

MLB Teams, David Price

The Boston Red Sox received some tremendous news on the David Price’ injury front Wednesday. According to manager Alex Cora, Price has been diagnosed with a mild case of carpal tunnel after being scratched from his previous start with numbness in his pitching hand.

Given what the injury could have been, Price and the Sox dodged a major bullet here. Despite the fact that a stint on the DL is still a possibility, Price’s injury likely isn’t of the long-term variety.

In the midst of his third season with the Red Sox after signing a seven-year, $217 million deal back in 2015, the 32-year-old Price is pitching to a 5.11 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in seven starts. This injury is likely one of the primary reasons for his struggles.
