Isiah Thomas ‘100 percent’ interested in Pistons job openings

The Detroit Pistons currently have some big holes to fill after former coach and head of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy was fired. NBA legend and former Pistons star Isiah Thomas would love the opportunity to help fill the void.

Speaking on the Bulls Talk podcast, via NBC Sports Chicago, Thomas expressed interest in joining Detroit in any capacity.

“Am I interested in Detroit? One hundred percent. And anything the Pistons ask of me or want me to do, I would listen. But I am definitely interested and would want to listen to what they have to say.”

It’s unclear if the Pistons are interested in bringing Thomas on board. Recently, it was reported that Jerry Stackhouse was among the candidates to replace Van Gundy as the coach in Detroit.

Thomas does have experience as both a coach in the NBA and as a front-office executive. Though, one would be hard pressed to find many people who’d say the Hall of Famer’s abilities these areas are ones that are coveted.

It’s generally accepted that Thomas’ tenure as the president of basketball operations with the New York Knicks was a disaster. As a head coach, he posted a career record of 187-223, which featured two winning seasons out of five with the Indiana Pacers and Knicks.
