Former NBA star says Drake should coach the Raptors

Drake

The Toronto Raptors are in the market for a new head coach after firing Dwane Casey following a 59-win regular season. It’s somewhat shocking to see the team make this move after the most successful season in franchise history.

It’s equally odd to hear the Raptors explain their decision following the firing (more on that here).

If Toronto wanted to make an impact hire outside of the obvious names, former NBA great Metta World Peace has one name for the team to consider: Drake.

“If they called me (about coaching the team), I would do it,” World Peace told TMZ Sports about the Raptors’ coaching vacancy before the conversation moved along to bring up Drake, who World Peace called “the owner of the team.” The enigmatic former All-Star then went on to say Drake should become the Raptors’ next head coach.

That would certainly set the NBA world afire. Imagine Drake attempting to coach against archnemesis LeBron James. It would be almost too much for those around the Association to handle. The Petty. The drama. We’re all here for it.

Sadly, it’s not going to happen. The Raptors themselves are said to be looking at more traditional head coaching candidates.

Even then, one can dream.
