Cowboys release statement following Terrance Williams arrest

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams was arrested early Saturday morning in Frisco and charged with public intoxication as well as leaving the scene of an accident after he allegedly crashed his Lamborghini into a light pole.

The charges include a Class C misdemeanor. Here are more details.

“The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene and could not be found in the area, but Frisco PD were able to determine the vehicle was registered to Williams,” Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram noted.

Following the arrest, Williams’ Cowboys organization released what has to be described as a generic statement.

“Cowboys officials say the team is aware of the incident and will continue to collect information on the matter,” the team said in a statement attributed to its official website.

The Cowboys did acknowledge that an incident took place near the site of their practice facility. They also acknowledged that Williams was indeed arrested.

Williams, 28, was a third-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2013. This past season saw him record 53 receptions for 568 yards. He’s expected to take on more of a role after Dallas released No. 1 receiver Dez Bryant.
