Adrian Peterson seems to really want to join Houston Texans

Adrian Peterson makes his debut with the Cardinals

At this point, it seems fair to assume Adrian Peterson would be happy with just about any team calling him with a job offer, based on the fact that his market’s been barren since the start of the NFL offseason. That said, based on his own comments, it seems like there’s one team that Peterson would really be interested in joining, above the rest.

The Houston Texans.

Just consider what he said in an appearance on ESPN’s NFL Live.

“You know obviously I’ve mentioned Houston a couple of times,” Peterson said. “I feel like Green Bay wouldn’t be a bad look as well. Carolina. There’s some options out there. You know Miami. Down there in [Los Angeles]. That would be a nice look, too, with Todd Gurley.”

Peterson has also said in the past that he’d love to play for the Dallas Cowboys, but that doesn’t appear to be in the cards. It’s hardly surprising that this Texan wants to play for one of his hometown teams.

That said, it’s pretty clear he just wants to work. And based on the way he’s been posting workout videos on his Twitter account, he’s doing everything in his power to let teams know he’s still in phenomenal shape.

Another thing that’s pretty clear now is that Peterson understands that teams aren’t going to see him as a lead back anymore, which is somewhat of a shift for the veteran.

“You see around the league they have a two-back system. Guys are not really not pounding the ball 20, 30 times a game, so I think that leaves the door open for a couple of opportunities for me.”

Peterson has also made it clear he’s open to a return to New Orleans, where he and head coach Sean Payton didn’t exactly get along last year before he was shipped to Arizona in a trade.

It’s likely Peterson will have to continue waiting a couple more months before he lands a job. Once injuries begin to occur around the league, as they inevitably do during training camp, opportunities will arise.
