Adam Jones not ruling out return to Bengals

Adam Jones

The Cincinnati Bengals chose not to pick up the option on cornerback Adam Jones this offseason, but that hasn’t stopped Jones from thinking about a potential return.

The 34-year-old had sports-hernia surgery back in early February but says he’s 100-percent healthy now. That said, Jones revealed during an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio Tuesday that he knows he’ll need to prove that to teams before they’ll have much interest in signing him.

He also made it clear that returning to Cincinnati is “a possibility.”

The option Cincinnati declined back in March was worth $5.5 million for the 2018 season. However, the team has remained open to bringing Jones back at the right price to have him compete as a nickel cornerback and return man. It’s worth pointing out that, at this time, no other interest has been reported around the league.

The past couple of seasons, Jones’ play has declined a bit, but from a football perspective he’s still a serviceable player. Before being placed on IR last season with a groin injury, he had tallied 23 tackles, one interception and four passes defended.
