Charley Hoffman will not win the 2018 Masters. But thanks to an ace on the 16th hole, he will leave Augusta National with a piece of crystal and a lifelong memory.

No doubt Hoffman’s playing partner, Tony Finau, gave him a warning about celebrating too exuberantly.
Aces on 16 are a somewhat frequent occurrence on Sunday at Augusta. Matt Kuchar made one in 2017, while Louis Oosthuizen, Davis Love III, and Shane Lowry all made holes in one in 2016. The traditional Sunday pin placement rewards great shots.
Still, Hoffman’s was unique from one perspective. The majority of the aces made on that hole catch the slope to the right of the pin and funnel down to the hole. Hoffman’s landed left and short of the flag.
We can count this ace among the great surprises that the Masters always offers. Charl
