Rockies’ Nolan Arenado among four suspended for role in brawl

The Colorado Rockies will be without star third baseman Nolan Arenado for five games after MLB suspended him Friday stemming from a bench-clearing brawl against the San Diego Padres earlier in the week.

The incident at Coors Field was among the ugliest of the early season. And in reality, Arenado is lucky to get off with just a five-game suspension. Meanwhile, San Diego Padres pitcher Luis Perdomo was suspended four games for his role in the incident.

Arenado, 26, is the biggest name of the four suspended by MLB on Friday. He’s averaged 40 homers and 131 RBI while hitting .297 over the past three seasons. In 14 games this season, Arenado is hitting .306 with one homer and six RBI. He’ll almost assuredly appeal said suspension.
