Report: ‘Several injured’ as tour bus carrying fans to Masters overturns

A tour bus carrying golf fans heading to Augusta National and the 2018 Masters overturned on Thursday morning, injuring several people, WJBF-TV reports.

The bus flipped while on a Georgia interstate highway, injuring several people, per the report.

The driver of the bus, Steven Hoppenbrouwer, 61, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and has been charged with DUI and with with failure to maintain lane. He “ran off the right side of the road, and the driver then overcorrected to the left, causing the bus to turn over in the median,” the state patrol said.

Per the report, seven adults were admitted to Augusta University Hospital, with five of them being in serious condition, per a hospital spokesperson. Thankfully, none of the injuries are reported as life-threatening.
