Report: Julio Jones ‘isn’t going anywhere’ despite social media scare

Julio Jones and Matt Ryan Atlanta Falcons

On Monday, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones sent fans into a frenzy when he scrubbed his Twitter account, making it private and unfollowing the Falcons.

Not surprisingly, Falcons fans feared the worst, thinking either Jones was not happy with the team or that he would be getting traded. Not so, reports Benjamin Allbright, who notes Jones is “happy” playing for Atlanta and wants to finish out his career with the Falcons.

Really, this isn’t all that surprising. If anything, it was just funny how fans had such knee-jerk reactions to what was likely just a personal decision to make his public life a bit more private.

Jones is signed through the 2020 season and is one of the best players Atlanta has on its roster. Given the fact that he’s still producing at a high level, and that general manager Thomas Dimitroff gave up the farm back in 2011 to trade up for the receiver, it made little sense that Jones would be traded.
