Report: Jeff Brohm lands seven-year, $26.9 million extension at Purdue

Jeff Brohm

The Purdue football program has a ton of confidence in head coach Jeff Brohm, who went 7-6 in his first year with the Boilermakers. How much confidence in him does the university have, you might ask? How about $26.9 million worth of confidence, over seven years.

According to Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports, Purdue’s Board of Trustees approved the extension on Thursday.

In addition to posting the first winning record in half a decade, Brohm helped the program post the most Big Ten victories in a season and the first bowl win for the program since 2011.

Thanks to his strong first campaign with the Boilermakers, Brohm was one of the coaches considered for the vacant Tennessee job this past winter. If he ends up moving on to greener pastures, Brohm’s buyout package is worth “$4.4 million until Dec. 6, 2018, when it then declines to $3.3 million and again to $2.2 million on Dec. 6, 2019,” per Forde.
