Report: Free agent Eric Reid will visit Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals are looking to add to their defense and reportedly have interest in former San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid. Ian Rapoport is reporting that Reid is scheduled to make what’s believed to be his first free agent visit with the Bengals.

Reid’s free agency has been one of the more interesting ones of the NFL offseason.

He was the first teammate of then teammate Colin Kaepernick to join the quarterback in protesting during the national anthem. Reid has said that he will find different ways to protest in 2018.

Another former teammate — Carolina Panthers receiver Torrey Smith — has said that Reid remains unsigned only because of the protests. Meanwhile, Richard Sherman has said that if Reid remains unemployed, legal action could be taken.

Reid was drafted by the 49ers in the first round of 2013. In his first year, he made the Pro Bowl and was selected to the PFWA All-Rookie team. In 2017, Reid split time between safety and linebacker. He started 12 games for San Francisco, defending four passes while making 54 tackles. For his career, Reid has defended 36 passes, recorded 264 tackles, and tallied 10 interceptions.
