Report: Eagles expected to release Daryl Worley following arrest

Daryl Worley

News broke Sunday morning that Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Daryl Worley was arrested and tasered by police after becoming combative. This arrest, according to Les Bowen of The Philadelphia Inquirer, could lead to the player’s release.

Worley reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel of his car while driving on the freeway. When he was found by police early on Sunday morning, his car was blocking a lane on the highway, and he was passed out. Just as troubling, Worley allegedly had a gun on him when the police arrived on the scene.

The car was discovered on the highway not far away from Eagles team facilities. Philly recently acquired Worley in a trade, which sent wide receiver Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers.

Set to enter his third year in the NFL after being selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Worley started 25 games for the Panthers the past two seasons. He has three career interceptions, two sacks and 111 solo tackles.
