Ben Simmons already was well on his way to winning the NBA Rookie of the Year award heading into the month of March. But what he’s done lately has all but sealed the prestigious award for the Philadelphia 76ers point forward.

Simmons has played in 74 games this year after missing the entire 2016-17 season with a foot injury. In those 74 games, the 21-year-old has done some incredible things (like this). He’s also averaging 15.1 points, 8.1 assists, 8.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals and nearly one block per game.
He also has the Sixers on an incredible roll right now, having won their last 10 games in a row en route to a record of 46-30, which is now tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. And what’s even more impressive is that, in the past couple of games, Simmons has kept Philly’s momentum going without star center Joel Embiid, who’s out for weeks after surgery to repair a fractured orbital bone.
No offense to Donovan Mitchell or Jayson Tatum, but right now they are nothing more than impressive afterthoughts compared to Simmons. He’s running away with the Rookie of the Year award, and it’s not even close.
