The Rice Owls football program received a rather interesting commitment just recently. Luke Armstrong, an offensive lineman for the powerhouse Westlake High School in Austin, TX. committed last week to play football for the Owls.

Why is this so significant? Well, Luke is the son of former cyclist Lance Armstrong, who dominated to the tune of seven consecutive Tour de France victories before a PED scandal ultimately took him down.

Per the Houston Chronicle, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound offensive lineman will join Rice’s football team as a preferred walk-on.

Lance himself announced the news on his official Instagram account just recently.

Westlake High in Austin has graduated some elite football players in the past, including Super Bowl MVPs Drew Brees and Nick Foles.
