Kristaps Porzingis expects to ‘heal like a lizard’

Kristaps Porzingis is a name to watch as NBA trades go down

New York Knicks fans are eagerly awaiting Kristaps Porzingis to recover from an ACL tear, but they probably didn’t anticipate how the superstar forward hopes his rehab goes.

“I expect myself to heal like a lizard,” he said, per Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic.

It certainly seems like a bold strategy for Porzingis to expect his left leg to regenerate, but we’re not medical professionals.

In the meantime, though, Vorkunov notes the 22-year-old said he’s “thirsty” to shoot and be on the court without jumping. Porzingis added that, despite his impatience in all other situations, he’s trying to be cautious with his knee.

The Knicks would prefer to have him back quickly, but there’s no sense in rushing Porzingis back to the floor. He posted career-high marks of 22.7 points, 2.4 blocks and a 39.5 percent clip from beyond the arc last season and earned his first All-Star nod.

Porzingis makes the team a borderline playoff threat, so New York must be patient while waiting for their Unicorn with lizard-like healing ability.
