Kevin Knox declares for 2018 NBA Draft

Kevin Knox arrived at Kentucky as a potential one-and-done, and the promising small forward lived up to that billing in 2017-18. Friday, the freshman declared for the 2018 NBA draft.

Knox revealed his choice via Kentucky basketball’s official Twitter account.

The 6-foot-9, 215-pounder paced the Wildcats with 15.6 points, also tallying 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. He buried 34.1 percent of his three-point attempts and shot 44.7 overall.

Knox, who is considered a fringe lottery pick, will likely be selected in the 12-20 range of the upcoming draft. The same goes for teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should he declare.

The Kentucky program is no stranger to transition, and John Calipari and his coaching staff have done an excellent job on the recruiting trail once again. The Wildcats are bringing in 5-stars Keldon Johnson and Immanuel Quickley, as well as prized 4-star Tyler Herro.

Still, they’re certain to feel the absence of Knox as he pursues a dream of playing in the NBA.
