Jason Terry wants to play 20th NBA season

Milwaukee Bucks guard Jason Terry

Only seven players in NBA history have ever spent 20 seasons in the league, but Milwaukee Bucks guard Jason Terry hopes to join that illustrious group.

And, according to Ben Steele of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Terry said he wants to stay in Milwaukee during the 2018-19 season.

“I want to play another year. I can honestly stand here before you and tell you all my efforts will be to come back with this organization.”

Terry joined the Bucks prior to the 2016-17 campaign, and he’s served as a rotation piece for much of the last two seasons. He averaged 3.3 points and 1.2 assists over 16.0 minutes per game in 2017-18.

So, the veteran still has value for Milwaukee off the bench. Plus, Terry won’t command a large salary — which is hugely important as the franchise decides whether Jabari Parker will be worth the price as restricted free agent. An already-clogged cap sheet is about to get squeezed.

But, most notably, Terry would join Robert Parish, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Willis, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter and Dirk Nowitzki as the only players to ever suit up for 20 NBA seasons.
