Dez Bryant tells Cowboys he’ll see them twice per season after release

Well, that escalated rather quickly. Fresh off reports that the Dallas Cowboys have released wide receiver Dez Bryant, it seems there’s an unreasonable level of bitterness on Bryant’s side.

According the Cowboys themselves, Bryant told officials that he’ll see them twice per season after he was notified of his release at The Star in Frisco on Friday morning.

This means that Bryant expects to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins or New York Giants. Of those teams, the defending champion Eagles seem to make the most sense. Though, it’s not yet known whether any of the three NFC East teams are interested in Bryant’s services.

The release comes after Bryant met with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Friday. And it’s a rather shocking development given that previous reports suggested he was unlikely to be released.

Dallas didn’t even offer Bryant an opportunity to take a pay cut from the $12.5 million base salary he was set to earn next season. That likely plays a role in the bitterness we’re seeing on his front right now.
