Anthony Davis and his New Orleans Pelicans are playing some tremendous ball. They entered Tuesday’s action as a top-four seed out west and have won eight consecutive games.
Unfortunately, the team’s season might very well be on the verge of unraveling altogether. Davis left Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers with what appears to be a serious hip injury after banging bodies inside with Clippers center DeAndre Jordan.
Here’s the play in question.

And here’s Davis in obvious pain as he headed off the court late in the second quarter.

There’s currently no further information on Davis’ status as he gets checked out by trainers at halftime. This comes after New Orleans lost All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins for the season to a ruptured Achilles back in January.
Over the course of the past 22 games, Davis is averaging 34.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per. Needless to say, a long-term injury would pretty much put an end to the Pelicans’ playoff hopes.
Update: Davis was diagnosed with a rib contusion.
Pelicans star Anthony Davis had X-rays return negative, diagnosed with rib contusion. He'll attempt to return tonight against the Clippers.

This is most definitely good news for the MVP candidate and his team.
