Texans reportedly bring Lamar Jackson in for private workout

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson is one of the most intriguing players in the 2018 NFL draft

They don’t have a pick in each of the first two rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft. They have a franchise quarterback in the form of Deshaun Watson. There are a ton of holes to fill on both sides of the ball.

But don’t let that distract you from the fact that the Houston Texans reportedly brought former Heisman winner and likely first-round pick Lamar Jackson in for a private workout earlier this week.

This begs one question: Why?

Houston is foolish to think that Jackson will last to the third round of the draft. It also makes very little sense to target a quarterback when the team exhausted a ton of capital to trade up for Watson last year.

Maybe the Texans are firmly in the Bill Polian mold of thinking, believing Jackson is somehow better suited to play wide receiver. That’s the only sense we can make of this.

Teams are limited in the number of draft prospects they can bring in for private workouts. Why use some of that capital on a player that will ultimately be drafted in the first round as a quarterback? Yeah, we’re confused, too.
