Tennessee lands Stanford transfer Keller Chryst

Former Stanford starting quarterback Keller Chryst has decided to use his final season of college eligibility at Tennessee.

Chryst announced the decision on Twitter, posting a picture with the Tennessee logo and a simple “Home Sweet Home” message.

Chryst appeared in 23 games for Stanford, completing 55.4 percent of his passes for 1,926 yards and 19 touchdowns to only six interceptions.

However, a 1-2 start to the 2017 campaign created an opportunity for K.J. Costello, and the young quarterback capitalized. Costello started the final six games of the season.

This decision doesn’t really change Tennessee’s outlook for 2018, since Chryst is a solid yet unspectacular passer. Nevertheless, he could be the preferred option if Jarrett Guarantano doesn’t show the improvement expected of a former prized recruit.
