Report: Greg Olsen auditioning for Monday Night Football

Greg Olsen Carolina Panthers

Greg Olsen has a future in broadcasting, but that might be arriving sooner than the NFL world expected for the Carolina Panthers tight end.

According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Olsen is interviewing Friday to be an analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

Marchand also said Olsen could be considered by Fox for its Thursday night package if Peyton Manning turns down the job.

Olsen served as a guest analyst for Fox during the 2017 season, providing commentary on a matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams while sitting out due to injury. His appearance was well-received throughout the industry.

At 33 years old, Olsen likely still has a couple productive seasons left on an NFL field. Considering he attracted 100-plus targets from in every year from 2012 to 2016, Carolina undoubtedly would prefer to have him return.

But this is also a forward-looking decision by Olsen, who could officially begin his media career in a high-profile job. If offered, joining the MNF booth would position him tremendously for a long, successful tenure as a broadcaster.
