Report: Frank Gore visiting Dolphins

Frank Gore

The Miami Dolphins are bringing in a popular face to potentially boost their backfield. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Frank Gore will visit the team Thursday.

It’s the next option for the running back, who seemed to be headed to the Detroit Lions before the team signed LeGarrette Blount.

Not only is Gore a quality veteran player, he’s also likely to create some nostalgic feelings for Dolphins supporters.

Since fandom is typically tied to location, many of the same people rooting for the Dolphins also pull for the Miami Hurricanes. Gore attended “The U” from 2001-2004, registered 1,975 rushing yards with 17 touchdowns and won a national championship.

However, a pair of ACL tears robbed a majority of the middle seasons. The hometown kid still became a fan favorite, and Gore fulfilled his promise after entering the NFL.

Those injury-shortened years cannot be recovered, but surely fans of both the Hurricanes and Dolphins wouldn’t mind seeing Gore in Miami next season.
