Report: Falcons, Patriots interested in Danny Woodhead

Danny Woodhead will miss at least the next month.

Danny Woodhead is 33 years old and has played a total of 10 games over the past two seasons. Normally, a player in his situation might be looking at signing a contract during the summer with hopes of caching on to a 53-man roster. Whether it’s on pure reputation alone or something else, that might not be the case.

According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, both the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons are showing interest in the veteran running back.

New England’s interest isn’t too surprising. Woodhead played for the team from 2010-2012, recording 2,181 total yards and 14 touchdowns in the process. He obviously fits what the Pats like to do on offense.

On the other hand, Atlanta has both Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman on the roster. Each is a capable receiving back, something that Woodhead himself is primarily known for. In his last two full seasons, Woodhead caught 156 total passes.

Woodhead missed eight games with the Baltimore Ravens last season due to a hamstring injury. Prior to that, he missed all but two games of the 2016 campaign with the then San Diego Chargers due to a torn ACL.
