The NFL world knows the Cleveland Browns will select a quarterback early in the 2018 NFL draft, and the franchise has a busy week meeting with and assessing the top four prospects.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns hosted Josh Rosen for a private workout Tuesday and are scheduled to see Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen this week.

As the report notes, the team will be closely monitoring Darnold because he elected not to throw at the NFL Scouting Combine. Each of the others players did, however. The USC signal-caller is one of the most popular choices for the Browns in mock drafts.

Regardless of which player the team selects, the current plan is to use Tyrod Taylor as the starting quarterback in 2018. Though the former Buffalo Bills quarterback understands he’s a short-term option, Taylor semi-seriously joked he hopes to “bridge the team to a Super Bowl.”

But he’ll be playing for his job on a weekly basis. And this four-day stretch of interviews and workouts may play a significant role in Cleveland determining who that challenger — and long-term hope — will be.
