Pistons’ Blake Griffin reportedly has bone bruise in ankle

Things started out so swimmingly for Blake Griffin in Detroit after a mid-season trade from the Los Angeles Clippers. But since a rocking start to his career with the Pistons, it has been completely downhill.

The Pistons have won five of six games. Despite this, they still find themselves five games out of the final playoff spot back east with seven games remaining. That’s not what the brass in Detroit had envisioned when it traded for the All-Star forward.

Unfortunately, it looks like Griffin’s season could already be over. According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Griffin suffered a bone bruise to the ankle earlier this week and will be evaluated again in another week.

About as injury plagued as they come, Griffin has already missed 17 games to injury this season. That comes on the heels of a two-year span that saw the former All-Star miss a combined 68 games.

In 25 games with the Pistons this season, Griffin is averaging 19.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists per outing.
