USC WR Joseph Lewis charged with five misdemeanors stemming from domestic violence incidents

USC wide receiver Joseph Lewis has been charged by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office with five misdemeanors stemming from domestic violence incidents that allegedly occurred last February.

Lewis faces three counts of domestic battery with an injury, one count of domestic battery without an injury and one count of false imprisonment, according to the Orange County Register. These five charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred between Feb. 5 and Feb. 11.

Lewis was arrested on Feb. 12 for these incidents. USC wasted no time suspending him indefinitely, noting, “USC takes all reports of domestic abuse seriously and is cooperating fully with the law enforcement investigation. While this student code of conduct issue is being investigated, the student has been suspended from all football-related activities. Student disciplinary records and student conduct proceedings are confidential at USC and protected by law.”

A sophomre, Lewis was a hot name on the recruiting trail a year ago, rated as the sixth-best receiver in the 2017 class by Rivals. He mostly participated in special teams, appearing in 11 games for the Trojans in 2017.
