You won’t believe why a college baseball coach was fired

There are lots of ways to find yourself in the unemployment line these days, but Texas Wesleyan baseball coach Mike Jeffcoat really raised the bar when it comes to creativity.

According to Scott Gordon of NBC5 in Dallas-Fort Worth, Jeffcoat was canned “after telling a potential recruit he wasn’t welcome because he was from Colorado and probably wouldn’t pass a drug test.”

So, essentially, Jeffcoat was fired for being an anti-weedite.

Really, it doesn’t get much more boneheaded than this. You cannot judge people based on this type of generalization. It’s akin to saying a kid who grew up in a low-income region rife with crime is obviously a criminal.

Let this be a lesson to all of us. Don’t judge a book by its cover, and don’t assume the worst in people based on outside influences.
