Miami guard Bruce Brown declares for NBA draft

Miami Hurricanes guard Bruce Brown is leaving his options open, the sophomore has added his name to the list of underclassmen declaring for the 2018 NBA draft.

The school announced his decision Thursday but said Brown will not hire an agent, which means he could return to Miami in 2018.

While that’s unlikely, it’s an important fallback option after an injury-shortened year. Brown injured his left foot, and the surgery ultimately kept him from returning to the court this season.

He entered the 2017-18 campaign as a potential lottery pick, and he’s still a fringe first-round choice. However, Brown’s struggles shooting from three-point range were a problem throughout the year, and that dropped his draft stock.

But he averaged seven rebounds and four assists, too. NBA teams will be interested in his complementary skills, and a strong showing in pre-draft workouts could lead Brown to officially leave Miami.
