Four days after suffering a stroke, legendary Texas Longhorns baseball coach Augie Garrido has passed away. Texas Baseball announced the sad news on Thursday, noting Garrido’s extraordinary accomplishments.

Before being hospitalized on March 11, he served as a special assistant to the athletic director at Texas. He won two championships at Texas and three more over two stints at Cal State Fullerton. Over the course of his legendary career, Garrido’s teams reached a total of 15 College World Series.
Garrido was 79 years old. May he rest in peace.
