Johnny Manziel will play in CFL after Spring League without NFL offer

Johnny Manziel

If Johnny Manziel does not get a chance to play for an NFL team following his upcoming stint in the Spring League, he will be headed to the Canadian Football League.

Drew Davison of the Star Telegram passed along this information on Tuesday morning after throwing at Texas A&M’s pro day.

Manziel recently wowed the scouts in attendance at San Diego’s pro day, allowing just two of 38 pass attempts to hit the ground. Here is some video of him throwing on Tuesday at Texas A&M.

He’s been working feverishly toward making a comeback and appears to have his off-field life in order, including recently getting married to Bre Tiesi.

Once thought of highly enough to warrant a first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns, Manziel spent just two years in the NFL before his partying ways got him essentially kicked out of the league.

Recently, Manziel and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats had discussed a potential deal. It remains to be seen if the CFL club would be amenable to discussing that again if Manziel does not get any NFL offers this year.
