Alabama and Notre Dame reportedly discussing football series

Alabama head coach Nick Saban

The two most iconic college football programs in history don’t really have much of a history with one another. Outside of the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, Alabama and Notre Dame have not played since 1987 and have met just six times.

That could very well change here soon.

According to a report from the Tuscaloosa News, the two sides are hashing out details for a home-and-home series. There’s no information available in regards to possible years the series might take place. This would also be a departure for a Crimson Tide program that has typically scheduled neutral site out-of-conference matchups against Power Five schools.

Though, it’s also something that pretty much everyone in the nation would be behind. If a rivalry were to take hold here, it would represent a complete changing of the tide around the college football world.

In their last meeting, Alabama dominated Notre Dame to the tune of a 42-14 win in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.
