UConn head football coach advocating for player pay

Rarely do we see a current college football head coach speak out against the NCAA on hot button topics. Current UConn football coach Randy Edsall is changing that in a big way. Taking to Twitter on Friday, Edsall clearly made his opinion known on the idea of player pay. And he did not hold back.

This has obviously been a major point of contention in recent years. With coaches getting salaries in the seven and eight figures, some believe the players should be rewarded for their efforts. Now that football programs and universities are making millions on these amateur athletes, this has been magnified further.

In reality, college football is no longer an amateur business. It’s run like a corporation with conferences acting as branches of said company and reaping the rewards in a big way.

For his part, Edsall has been in the college football coaching ranks for three-plus decades. He knows full well how the landscape of the sport has changed.
