Report: Police believe DeSean Jackson was victim

Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver DeSean Jackson

The potential legal trouble that DeSean Jackson was in at the end of the 2017 season has a different look to it.

While the car in question belonged to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver, police now believe that he played no part in any wrongdoing.

“The case involving Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson’s wrecked vehicle found abandoned with bullets and marijuana inside is currently inactive because they don’t have any witnesses or evidence to place the driver behind the wheel at the time of the crash, the Tampa Police Department said Thursday,” Jenna Laine of ESPN reported. “They also believe that Jackson was a victim and had no role in the incident.”

The new belief is that a friend of Jackson’s was driving his car. Per Laine, “Jackson said that he was out of town at the time that the crash took place and that the vehicle was borrowed without his permission.”

This statement from the police will certainly be welcome news for Jackson and his team.
