Report: Diamondbacks acquire OF Steven Souza from Rays in three-way trade

J.D. Martinez is now signed with the Boston Red Sox, so the Arizona Diamondbacks are looking elsewhere to strengthen the outfield. In a three-team trade with the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees, Arizona has reportedly acquired outfielder Steven Souza.

The Yankees also gave up prospects Nick Solak (Rays) and Tyler Widener (Diamondbacks) in the deal.

Souza is coming off of a career year with the Rays. He set career highs in OBP (.351), slugging (.459), runs scored (78), home runs (30), RBI (78), and steals (16).

Between this, designating Corey Dickerson for assignment, and trading both Evan Longoria and Jake Odorizzi, the fire sale is certainly on in Tampa. Veterans like Kevin Kiermaier, Alex Colome, and Chris Archer could well be next on the trading block.
