Report: Colts request to interview Leslie Frazier

Andrew Luck

In the aftermath of Josh McDaniels reneging on his decision to coach the Indianapolis Colts, the team has moved on to requesting an interview with Leslie Frazier.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported the Colts’ interest in the Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator.

This connection makes sense because Frazier has a history with Indianapolis owner Jim Irsay, who might view him as a safe, familiar hire. During the 2006 season, the Colts won the Super Bowl with Frazier as the assistant head coach and defensive backs coach.

Frazier parlayed that experience into a job as the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator, steadily working his way up the organization before assuming control in 2011. He managed a 21-32 record with one playoff appearance in three-plus seasons.

After brief stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Baltimore Ravens, Frazier led the Bills defense in 2017.
