NBA suspends Pistons’ Willie Reed for alleged domestic violence incident

Less than two weeks after being acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in the Blake Griffin trade, Detroit Pistons center Willie Reed is facing a major off-court situation.

The NBA announced on Tuesday that it has suspended the veteran six games for his alleged role in a “domestic violence incident involving his wife.”

Back in August of last year, Reed was arrested in Miami on battery charges.

“His wife told police that he dragged her across the apartment while wrestling for a purse and later pulled her hair and grabbed her by the wrist during an argument Saturday night,” the police report read, via ESPN.

Reed denied ever laying a hand on his wife at the time. The incident in question reportedly stemmed from her telling the NBA player that she wanted a divorce.

It’s not yet known whether this will impact Reed’s future with the Pistons. He’s averaging just three minutes of action in as many games since being acquired from Los Angeles last week.
