Former Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler has played his final game with the New England Patriots. The Pro Bowler took to Twitter on Tuesday to say his goodbyes to the team he has suited up for throughout his career.
More than that, Butler denied reports that missing the Patriots’ curfew and other shenanigans led to him being benched for Sunday’s loss to the Philadephia Eagles in Super Bowl LII.

An impending free agent, it’s pretty clear that Butler intends on signing with another team this spring. That’s not entirely a shock considering head coach Bill Belichick decided to bench him altogether for the biggest game of the season.
The reasons for Butler’s benching have not been confirmed. But reports on Monday suggested that it had to do with him missing curfew, among other things.
From a Patriots perspective, this decision hurt big time. They yielded 41 points to backup Nick Foles and the Eagles en route to seeing the quarterbak earn Super Bowl MVP honors.
