Isaiah Thomas expected to make Lakers debut Saturday

Isaiah Thomas landed with the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline, and the point guard will be available for the Western Conference club quickly.

Per Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, head coach Luke Walton expects Thomas and Channing Frye to join the team for Saturday’s clash against the Dallas Mavericks.

Players sometimes need extra time to learn a new team’s philosophy and terminology, but Thomas and Frye are wasting little time. Not that playing on the day traded is realistic, they’ll only have missed Thursday’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The move has offered a new start for Thomas, who never panned out with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He wanted to dominate the ball as he had with the Boston Celtics, but that would never happen while on the court with LeBron James.

Thomas — who averaged 14.7 points and 4.5 assists in Cleveland — will likely join the starting lineup in Los Angeles immediately.
