Former Vikings coach takes shot at players as he prepares to retire

Clint Eastwood would be proud of this “get off my lawn” moment from former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice.

In telling Dan Barreiro of KFAN in Minnesota that he plans on retiring, Tice also took time to throw a tremendous amount of shade in the direction of NFL players. It really is something to behold.

The net Tice cast here is so wide that it extends from Minnesota, the sight of Sunday’s Super Bowl, all the way to Oakland, where Tice coached the Raiders’ offensive line for the past three seasons.

Tice, 59, has been around the NFL since he joined the league as a tight end for the Seattle Seahawks back in 1981. He was the Vikings’ head coach from 2001-05, posting a 32-33 record with one playoff appearance. Since then, Tice has spent time as an assistant in Jacksonville, Chicago, Atlanta and Oakland.

Maybe Tice has some hard feelings stemming from him less than illustrious tenure as the Vikings’ head coach. Then again, his experience with a struggling Raiders squad this past season surely didn’t help matters.
