Chase Utley has been playing in Major League Baseball since American snowboarding sweetheart and legend Chloe Kim was two years old. And he doesn’t anticipate hanging up his cleats for the half pipe any time soon.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, Utley has re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and will return for a 16th MLB season.

This is more about Utley’s value to the clubhouse than anything else. The 39-year-old infielder hit just .236 with eight homers and 34 RBI last season. The six-time All-Star has not been a quality everyday player since his days with the Philadelphia Phillies back in 2014.

Even then, Utley will provide insurance and depth at three different infield positions. He saw time at first base, second base, third base and designated hitter last season. It’s that type of flexibility that still makes Utley a valuable commodity for the defending National League champs.
