The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to raise ticket prices for a third consecutive season despite putting up a dismal 5-11 campaign in 2017. This news comes courtesy of Greg Auman of Tampa Bay Times.
According to the report, tickets will cost up to $500 more in some cases. Lower-level tickets on the team’s home field side will increase $250 per ticket and sell for $1,600. This represents a 62-percent increase over the same seat price ($900) in 2015.
At least the cheapest tickets will stay priced at $450 each, per the report. But, that is still a lot of dough for a nosebleed seat.
It was also reported that the “actual home attendance” at games dropped 2.4 percent in 2017. Overall, the Buccaneers ranked 29th of the league’s 32 teams in home attendance in 2017.
Last season was disappointing to say the least for Bucs fans, who saw their team win nine games in 2016. Quarterback Jameis Winston missed time, Desean Jackson — added in free agency — underwhelmed, and star receiver Mike Evans recorded his lowest yardage ever in 2017. This is just to name a few low points from last year.
So, drastically raising ticket prices for 2018 doesn’t exactly seem to fit the bill here.
