Report: Signs pointing to Matt Patricia as Giants coach

Matt Patricia will remain with the New England Patriots through the playoffs, but the New York Giants want to be the franchise that takes the defensive coordinator after the postseason.

And according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, “all signs are pointing” to Patricia being the next head coach of the Giants.

However, this is a considerable turn from a recent report that suggested Patricia would likely replace Jim Caldwell and join the Detroit Lions. The NFL coaching carousel sure is spinning with Patricia.

Either way, it appears he’ll leave New England, an organization for which he’s worked 14 years. He arrived as an offensive assistant and his since helped on the offensive line, coached linebackers, safeties and overseen a unit as defensive coordinator.

Patricia undoubtedly is qualified for a head-coaching position, and there is a chance he will need to decide between official job offers from the Lions and Giants once New England’s season is over.
