Report: Todd Haley in ‘serious talks’ with Browns to become offensive coordinator

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Todd Haley might not be unemployed for long. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator is in “serious talks” to take on the same job as a member of the Cleveland Browns.

Despite clashing with Ben Roethlisberger for most of his tenure in Pittsburgh, and despite taking a ton of heat for the Steelers’ failures against Jacksonville in the Divisional Round, there’s no doubt Haley is a top coordinator in the NFL. Since 2014, Haley had engineered an offense that ranked in the top seven in each of the past four seasons.

The Browns need all the coaching help they can get, too. Hue Jackson and Co. went 1-31 the past two years and the team dumped most of its coaching staff this past month.

Another high-profile coach, Mike Mularkey, has reportedly been linked to the same job in Cleveland. It’s going to be interesting to see what the Browns do from here.
