Report: Colts requested permission to interview Josh McDaniels for HC job

The Indianapolis Colts fired Chuck Pagano after a miserable 2017 campaign and have their eyes set on a coveted New England Patriots coach, offensive coordinator Josh McDainels. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Colts have already requested permission to interview McDaniels for their vacancy.

This would certainly qualify as a splash hire to rouse the fan base. McDaniels has a knack for getting the most out of quarterbacks and is seen as one of the brightest offensive minds in the game today. His offense isn’t easy to master but once it’s installed it’s very effective, and the Colts already have an elite trigger man to run point in Andrew Luck.

Of course, McDaniels is remembered by many for his love of Tim Tebow during his short tenure as the head coach of the Denver Broncos. He posted a record of 11-17 in under two seasons with Denver and was fired after Week 13 of the 2010 season following a 3-9 start that year.

McDaniels has also been mentioned as a favorite to land the vacant head coaching position with the New York Giants.
