Marcus Mariota sparked an improbable win last Saturday when he caught his own pass for a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. Now he’s heading to Foxborough with his Tennessee Titans teammates to take on the mighty New England Patriots.
Ahead of the Divisional Round matchup, the folks at EA Sports have given Mariota a funny little boost in the game “Madden NFL 18.” His overall rating jumped one point to 80, thanks in part to the fact that his catch rating got a plus-two bump up to 60, per Steve Noah of operationsports.com.
It’s kind of a funny little update, but it’s also fitting. Anyone who watched Mariota come down with his own pass after it was batted down by Darrelle Revis knows it was a heck of a catch (watch here).
Likely, Mariota will need to pull more than one rabbit out of his hat this weekend when he leads the Titans against Tom Brady and Co. Tennessee is nearly a two-touchdown dog in this game, and for good reason.
