Greg Olsen matching up to $100K of donations to charity for children’s hospital

Panthers tight end Greg Olsen

One of the three finalists for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen is using this platform to continue his good works.

Olsen has launched an initiative called “Man of the Year Match” on YouCaring. He and his wife, Cara Olsen, are pledging to match up to $100,000 of donations to The HEARTest Yard, a foundation that helps fund families of Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC. They started the foundation when their son, TJ, was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect.

“My wife and I strive every day to serve not only the families treated at Levine Children’s Hospital, but also the Carolina region as a whole,” Olsen wrote.

To date, The HEARTest Yard has raised over $2.5 million to help the families of the children being treated at Levine Children’s Hospital. Per the YouCaring page, “Services provided through the program include private in home nursing care, speech therapy, occupation therapy, nurse teleconferencing, and various other in-home healthcare services.”

So far, the initiative has raised just over half the initial goal with eight days remaining.
