Bears ‘evaluating’ giving Mitch Trubisky a say in next head coach

2017 NFL Draft, Mitch Trubisky

Back in April of 2017 when the Chicago Bears gave up the farm to move up one spot for Mitch Trubisky, who would have been there for them at No. 3, the franchise was widely ridiculed for the move.

Guess what? The team is pondering something else involving this quarterback that is even more shocking.

Team general manager Ryan Pace, who’s organizing the team’s head-coaching search after firing John Fox, shared the following on Monday.

This is pretty unique. Trubisky, who showed some flashes he might have what it takes to be a franchise passer this past year, is for all intents and purposes still a pup. You wouldn’t expect a player to have this kind of say into who coaches unless it’s a tenured veteran and superstar — someone like Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady.

It’s understandable that the Bears want to hire a coach that will help Trubisky grow. At the same time, it’s pretty odd that it is considering giving him a say about who comes in considering he’s less than a year into this NFL thing.
